PRIORITY'S TAKE ON THE ULTIMATE HARDCORE HARDTAIL COMBINING PINION'S REVOLUTIONARY ELECTRONIC SMART.SHIFT AND GEARBOX, GATES CARBON DRIVE BELT, AND FOX FRONT SUSPENSION
The 600HXT is the first of its kind. Unlike other mountain bikes, the 600HXT employs the Gates Carbon Drive system and Pinion's revolutionary Smart.Shift gearbox. Instead of relying on a vulnerable and unreliable chain, derailleur and cassette weighing down the rear wheel, shifting occurs inside the centrally-mounted Pinion gearbox, and pedal power is delivered to the rear wheel by a mud-shedding carbon fiber-reinforced belt drive. The Smart.Shift electronic shifting on the 600HXT can snick between gears in 0.2 seconds, and will bang through shift after shift reliably regardless of riding conditions. With fully-sealed internals, a 600% gear range, and the ability to shift nearly instantly, the Smart.Shift gearbox offers unrivaled performance and reliability.

Pinion Smart.Shift combines the reliable and almost maintenance-free gearbox shifting technology with the advantages of push button electric shifting. Shifting is done at the touch of a button—switching between gears in 0.2 seconds (that's two-tenths!) while riding, stationary, and intelligently under load; finding the optimum time in your pedal stroke delivering efficiency without delay. The unit is charged on the bicycle. A charge lasts approximately 10,000 shifts and only drains while shifting. Many riders may only need to charge once or twice a year.
The sealed, low maintenance, center-mounted gearbox delivers extreme responsiveness. Precision designed with a perfectly-spaced 12-speed system with a 600% gear range—greater than a traditional 3x10-speed—with no gear overlap or derailleur upkeep. Handling is improved with the centered weight with the removal of the weight of a cassette and derailleur from the rear. A simple oil change every 10,000 KM (6,000 MI) or annually is all that is needed to keep the system at peak performance. It is a perfect pairing for the revolutionary Smart.Shift performance.
The signature feature of all Priority Bicycles—the rust and grease-free Gates Carbon Drive Belt. Using the same technology designed for motorsports, the carbon fiber tensile cords that line the belt are refined for bicycle-specific application. Where a chain requires frequent lubrication and cleaning in off-road environments, the belt stays efficient while lasting many times the life of a chain. Without grease, it won’t stain your hands or clothing—just give it a post-ride rinse and you’re ready to ride!
Called by Fox "The Hard Charging Do-It-All Trail Fork," it features 140mm Travel, 44mm offset with Boost-spacing. One of the smoothest, tunable, and responsive rides available. The Fox 34 also has class-leading stiffness to weight ratio and a proven Grip 2 damper.
WTB KOM Trail i30 rims and WTB Vigilante 2.5 x 29" and Trail Boss 2.6 x 29" tires are responsive, fast rolling, and tubeless-ready. The grippy Vigilante up front and fast rolling Trail Boss in the rear make for a confident ride in loose trail while still keeping things interesting as you hit berms and crank it sideways into turns while blasting into smoother stretches.
TRP Slate T4 2.3mm, 203F/180R rotor, hydraulic 4-piston disc brakes provide confident stopping when you need to drop the anchor as you ride through trails, streams, and all the sloppy conditions in-between.
Ultra-modern hardcore hardtail geometry ties it all together to deliver an engaging yet well-mannered ride that is comfortable tackling anything from the chunky East Coast tech the 600HXT was born in, to buffed out flow and jump trails. The 6061 alloy frame is complemented by internal dropper routing and optional rack, kickstand, and bottle cage mounts.
OneUp Components dropper delivers best-in-class drop-to-length-to-weight ratio with reliable performance, season after season. 180mm drop on M/L/XL, 150mm on S.

The 600HXT is the third model leveraging the Pinion gearbox platform from Priority Bicycles in the past six years, with each one increasing performance and use case. “The Pinion gearbox offers tremendous benefits for low maintenance reliability in our 600 commuter all-road and 600X bikepacking models,” says Eddie Meek, Director of Product Development at Priority Bicycles. “As we developed the 600X, however, we saw potential for a true trail mountain bike that would take advantage of the centered weight and all-conditions reliability of the Pinion gearbox and Gates Carbon Drive belt, with the flagship Priority focus on low maintenance. The key to realizing this was a shifting system that could keep up with the dynamic riding of modern mountain biking, which came in the form of the Pinion Smart.Shift technology.”
The 600HXT is designed to stand out as the authority on durability and trail riding performance.

You have questions. We have answers.
Why did you design the 600HXT?
The Pinion Gearbox has presented an array of advantages for the adventure rider. From the initial launch of the 600 All Road, we saw the potential to bring the technology to a hardtail. With modern geometry and components, paired with the innovative Smart.Shift technology, we believed we could deliver on the durability for which Priority is known, with the performance that matches today's rider.
Will the Gates Carbon Drive belt hold up to the demands of an aggressive rider?
The Gates Carbon Drive belt sustains torque and environmental demands in a far superior fashion compared to a traditional chain. Plus, by removing the rear cassette and derailleur and centering the weight under the rider, you deliver more balance for the bicycle along with the ability to hose down your bike for your next ride.
What is the maximum tire size?
The maximum tire size is 29 x 2.6" which comes stock on the 600HXT.
What is the 600HXT ship date?
We are anticipating a ship date of early Q1 2024.
Where is the best place to ride the 600HXT?
The 600HXT is designed to be fun on challenging descents, tough climbs, and flow trails alike. It is best off road.
Is the 600HXT compatible with a manual-shifting Pinion gearbox?
The 600HXT is designed for the Smart.Shift gearbox, so it does not have cable routing for a manual-shifting Pinion gearbox.
Can a manual Pinion gearbox be upgraded to Smart.Shift?
No, the Smart.Shift equipped gearbox internals are modified to fit the Smart.Shift box that enables the revolutionary electronic shifting.
Can you bikepack with the 600HXT?
The geometry and tire spec are better-suited to challenging terrain and MTB riding, over light gravel or road use. If you're looking for a bikepacking rig, check out our 600X.
