Ride Montréal with Tom Babin

Tom Babin is heading to Montréal — and bringing the Shifter mindset with him.

We’re linking up for a full weekend of riding as part of Go Vélo Montréal, one of the biggest celebrations of cycling anywhere. From a casual meet-up to a group ride through the city, and finishing with the Tour de l’Île, this is all about experiencing Montréal the way it’s meant to be experienced — on a bike.

Come ride with us.

🗓️ WEEKEND SCHEDULE

A full weekend built around riding Montréal with Tom Babin. From a casual Friday meet-up to a city ride on Saturday and finishing with the Tour de l’Île, each day brings a different way to experience the city by bike.

🌙 FRIDAY — MAY 29

KICK OFF THE WEEKEND BY LIGHTING UP MONTRÉAL

Tour la Nuit is a 20 km, car-free night ride that winds through the city in a full-on light parade. Riders show up lit — bikes, outfits, everything — and roll together through Montréal in a way you don’t get to experience any other time.

This year’s route takes you through Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, and Saint-Laurent, with a festive, social atmosphere the whole way through.

Whether you ride it every year or it’s your first time, it’s one of those events that sticks with you.

🚲 SATURDAY — MAY 30

RIDE WITH TOM BABIN

Saturday we keep it rolling.

Join Tom Babin for a laid-back ride through Montréal — the kind of ride that’s less about distance or pace, and more about experiencing the city by bike.

We’ll cruise through neighborhoods, take a few stops along the way, and keep things relaxed and social. It’s a chance to ride with Tom, meet other riders in town for the weekend, and see Montréal the way it’s meant to be seen.

No race pace. No pressure. Just a good ride.

🌆 SUNDAY — MAY 31

TOUR DE L’ÎLE DE MONTRÉAL

Sunday is the big one.

The Tour de l’Île takes over Montréal — thousands of riders, fully closed streets, and a route that moves through some of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods, from Villeray and the Plateau to Old Montréal, the South-West, and beyond.

Choose your distance (30 km or 50 km) and ride it your way. Along the route, expect a mix of music, energy, and plenty of reasons to stop, take it in, and enjoy the day.

It’s one of those rare moments where an entire city is built for bikes — and you’re right in the middle of it.

ABOUT TOM BABIN

Tom Babin is an award-winning author, journalist, and the creator of the Shifter YouTube channel, where he explores the intersection of bikes and city life.

Through Shifter, Tom has built a global audience around a simple idea: bikes can make our cities — and our everyday lives — better. His work focuses on urban cycling, transportation, and the role riding plays in shaping more livable, connected places.

He’s also the author of Frostbike: The Joy, Pain and Numbness of Winter Cycling, a bestselling look at what it really means to ride year-round.

Last year, we rode from Seattle to Vancouver together — and it lived up to everything Tom talks about: good routes, good conversations, and the kind of riding that makes you want to keep going.

We’re hyped to link back up in Montréal and ride some more miles — or kilometers, if you’re into that — with him.
