ABOUT THE VANTH

About Stillpoint

What is the Stillpoint system:

The Vanth’s Stillpoint system uses patent-pending pivot and tensioner placement to deliver the benefits of high-pivot suspension while balancing compromises that are evident in other designs.

TRADITIONAL HIGH PIVOT designs excel at maintaining speed over square-edged bumps but at the cost of higher anti-rise and pedal kickback. These layouts typically position the main pivot along existing frame members and often result in high anti-rise, causing rear-end squat and diminished bump absorption under braking.

THE STILLPOINT SYSTEM resolves these trade-offs with a new “Third Frame Member” forward of the seat tube, creating a central hardpoint for optimal axle path and anti-rise balance. Combined with the Pinion gearbox’s centered weight and low unsprung mass, the result is exceptionally low pedal kickback (3.2°) and a ride that stays planted through chatter, composed in corners, and unfazed by big impacts. The design also frees the seat tube for class-leading dropper post insertion.

PATENT PENDING DESIGN

Stillpoint SUSPENSION Design:

The higher you place the pivot point up the y-axis (fig. A) on traditional designs, the more rearward the axle path, but also the commensurate increase in anti-rise. By placing it on the Third Member (fig. B), where there is typically empty space (fig. C), you achieve both a high pivot placement and resulting bump absorbing performance while controlling anti-rise values.

Three patent applications define Stillpoint system:

(fig. 1 + fig. 2) The tensioner and idler device that controls belt or chain growth, critical for internally geared high pivot designs. This patent covers belt and chain application and allows for the tensioner to compensate for high drivetrain growth designs, retaining proper tension and mitigating pedal kickback.

(fig.3) The placement of the Third Frame Member on the frame allows for an ideal pivot placement which balances high rearward axle path while controlling unmitigated anti-rise growth.

The payoff of the design is suspension that maintains all the hallmarks of high pivots we’ve come to expect, like mobbing speed in treacherous terrain, while staying active and composed under braking.

applied technology

Pinion Gearbox

Sealed from the elements, the Pinion Smart.Shift gearbox improves shift performance and weight balance while eliminating derailleur damage and daily upkeep with an unmatched 568% gear range. Riders can shift while pedaling, coasting, or fully stopped—and the centralized gearbox lowers rear swingarm unsprung mass for a more responsive, sensitive suspension. With only an oil change every 6,000 miles and a charge every 20,000 shifts, Smart.Shift enables superb handling while delivering long-term reliability and low maintenance.

Gates Carbon Belt Drive

The Gates CDX Belt Drive delivers the most low maintenance drivetrain in mountain biking. Replacing heavier, noisy, rust-prone chains with a carbon-fiber-corded belt, it needs no lubrication, runs optimally no matter the conditions, clears mud from the system as the belt travels through long wearing stainless steel sprockets, and lasts three times longer than typical roller chain drivetrains. The Gates Belt drive's seamless performance free of chain slap exemplifies ease of ownership with all conditions reliability and simple post-ride hose downs.

BUILD TIERS

The Vanth features the Pinion Smart.Shift C1.9i gearbox, Gates CDX Belt, MX wheelset, and 165mm rear travel with butted aluminum front triangle and carbon fiber monocoque rear swingarm.

The Vanth delivers in three tiers.

FAQS

You have questions. We have answers.

What are the suspension travel and stroke lengths?

The Vanth comes with a 170mm travel fork and a 65mm stroke (230mm eye to eye, plain eyelet, 8x22.2mm hardware top and bottom) rear shock yielding 165mm vertical rear wheel travel.

Can I run a dual crown fork?

The Vanth frame is designed and tested for a single crown fork. That said, a Fox 40 at 190mm travel will yield an axle-to-crown similar to the stock dimension.

Why did we decide to make this bike?

Starting in 2021 we partnered with visionary engineer, Fabien Lemasson, and bike designer, Mike Schwartz, formerly of Morpheus Bikes, and started exploring a new suspension platform. After years of extensive testing, prototyping, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from a wide range of professional riders and
every day mountain bikers, we knew we had a bike that we needed to bring to
market.

Is there a carbon version of this bike?

While exotic materials may seem flashy, a well designed aluminum frame will yield an equal if not better ride quality while delivering on the best in class value Priority is known for. The Vanth uses a butted aluminum front triangle and a carbon fiber rear swingarm, but not for the reason you might think. Carbon fiber can be lighter than metal, but it also has the ability to tune stiffness and modulus with different layups, which was critical for the Vanth with its monostay swingarm design.

Why the mullet?

Mullet wheel sizes are perfect for a bike of this intent. The 29" wheel up front helps
the bike roll over larger obstacles and track well through chunky terrain, and the 27.5" rear wheel helps keep the bike playful and maneuverable.

How much does the Vanth weigh?

About 40.5 lbs depending on size and spec.

What’s the difference in the spec tiers of the Vanth? Why should I get the more expensive version?

Higher end suspension helps bring out the best qualities of the Stillpoint suspension platform. Riders doing more high speed descending will appreciate the brake upgrade on the Factory and above level, and the tire upgrade on the Podium level.

Can I change the gearing?

The drivetrain can accommodate a 30T rear sprocket with the stock belt size. We have found the lowest gear with the 30T to be adequate for athletic riders, but the stock 32T a more universal fit.

I’m new to mountain biking, is this the right bike?

The Vanth is the right bike for someone who wants to push themselves on challenging terrain. Beginner riders might struggle on terrain that is challenging enough to exploit the full capability of the bike. We suggest building your riding skills with a hardtail like the HxT before graduating to a heavy-hitting gravity-oriented bike like the Vanth.

What is the benefit of high pivot suspension?

High pivot suspension designs have a rearward axle path, which better matches the force vector of an impact to the rear wheel. Rather and rotating forward in the direction of the object that imparts such force, causing the rear wheel to hang up, the rear wheel move away from that object, mimicking the performance of the fork and allowing the bike to preserve momentum.

How difficult is it to service the front and rear suspension?

The rear suspension linkage uses standard tools and bearings, similar to any other modern full suspension design. Follow Fox's recommendations for service intervals. Belt removal is as simple as detensioning the pulley and removing the belt, being careful not to crimp or roll the belt on/off. The Gates user manual for detail on proper belt handling.

What are the largest tires that can fit on the Vanth?

The Vanth clears a 29 x 2.6" tire up front and a 27.5 x 2.6" tire in the rear.

Can I run a coil instead of the air shock?

Yes, the Vanth is coil compatible.

What coil weight should I run?

We suggest using Fox's MTB Spring Calculator to determine your optimal coil weight.

Why does the Vanth come with a belt?

The belt drive offers a quiet riding experience with no chain slap, and requires no lubrication while lasting three times longer than a standard chain which means more time riding and less time servicing.
