The signature feature of every Priority Folder is the Gates Belt Drive. Unlike a traditional chain, the belt won't rust, never needs lubrication, and stays clean ride after ride. Since folding and unfolding means you'll interact with your bike more often, a grease-free drivetrain makes transportation, storage, and daily use dramatically cleaner and easier. The result is a quieter, lower-maintenance ride that's built to go wherever you do.
The Folder lineup is available in two distinct builds to match how you ride. The Folder 3 pairs a Gates Belt Drive with Shimano's simple and reliable Nexus 3-speed hub for lightweight portability and everyday transportation. The Folder 8 adds a wider-range Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub, making it better suited for longer commutes, varied terrain, and riders who want greater versatility without sacrificing folding-bike convenience.
The Folder 8 comes equipped with full composite fenders and a rear rack, making it ready for daily commuting right out of the box. Stay cleaner in wet conditions while carrying work gear, groceries, or everyday essentials with ease. Looking for a lighter, more streamlined setup? The Folder 3 keeps things simple, with compatible fender and rack upgrades available separately
Folding the Folder is quick and intuitive. Open the clasp at the base of the folding stem, fold it downward, then release the center frame clasp and fold the bike in half. Integrated magnets keep everything securely folded until you're ready to ride again. Compact enough for apartments, offices, transit, RVs, and boats, the Folder makes bringing your bike along easier than ever.
Unlike many folding bikes that prioritize compactness above all else, the Folder is designed to ride like a bicycle first. Its 20-inch wheels strike the ideal balance between portability, stability, and efficiency, delivering a confident ride that feels familiar and capable. Like all Priority models, the Folder features a rust/grease-free Gates Carbon Drive belt that lasts longer than a standard chain, is stronger, smoother, and whisper quiet. It features a 3 or 8-speed internally geared hub, aluminum folding frame with durable bolt-style hinge clasp, 20" wheels, double-wall alloy rims, telescoping aluminum seatpost, composite fenders, rear rack, and disc or v-brakes. The Folder is small but mighty!

What are the dimensions when the bike is folded?
When the Folder is folded, it measures 12" x 30" x 24" - L x W x H.
How do I fold the bike?
Folding the Folder is easy! Open the clasp at the base of the folding stem and fold it downwards. Open the clasp in the center of the bike’s main frame tube and fold the frame. Align the magnet on the fork with the magnet on the bike’s rear dropout and it will stay folded until you’re ready to ride again.
What is the wheel and tire size?
Stock tires 20x1.75” and the maximum tire width is 1.85” with fenders, or 2.1” with the fenders removed, but it depends on the specific tire and its tread. We suggest working with a local bike shop if you want to increase the tire size from stock.
Can I take the Folder on an airplane?
You can check the Folder as standard luggage with most airlines as long as it's in a bag.
Can my child ride this instead of a kid’s bike?
The Folder allows a wide range of adjustment in the handlebar and saddle height, so it can work well for a younger rider who has not grown into adult sized bikes just yet.
Should I get the Folder or a full-size bike?
It depends on what kind of riding you want to do and whether you need the folding feature. A folding bike is the best choice for a intermodal commute when you have to bring the bike with you in the trunk of your car, on the subway or bus, and the Folder is the perfect choice for the last few miles to your destination. A full-size commuter is a better choice for longer rides since it is faster and more efficient.
Can you upgrade to a suspension seatpost on the Folder?
Yes! The upper portion of the telescoping seatpost on the 8 speed is a standard 27.2mm size and can be replaced with any such sized seapost, including our 174HUDSON Suspension Seatpost
Can I buy the Folder 3 and convert it into an 8-speed?
No, the Folder 3 and Folder 8 use different rear wheels built around different internal-gear hubs, so switching from 3-speed to 8-speed means replacing the entire rear wheel, shifter, and cable — plus potential differences in dropout spacing and chain line. At that point, the parts and labor cost more than the price difference between models.
That said, if you want to bring your Folder 3 closer to the Folder 8's setup in other ways, the seatpost, fenders, and rear rack that come standard on the Folder 8 are available separately. If you think you'll want the extra gears down the road, it's still better to start with the Folder 8.
