The second season of Human Resources, a comedic behind the scenes look at innovative recycling company TerraCycle, launches on Pivot this Friday August 7th at 10pm ET/PT. We were on hand this week to help support the launch with a bicycle giveaway and sweepstakes. Inspired by the work of TerraCycle and the Human Resources team, we wanted to share some habits that start with the bike for helping the environment. Tip #1: Find a day to ride your commute: Riding your bike to work instead of driving can cut down on your household emissions by at least 6%, and The United States could save 462 million gallons of gasoline per year by increasing cycling from 1% to 1.5% of all trips. Tip #2: Keep that water bottle with you all day: One plastic bottle can take hundreds of years to decompose; therefore, loading up our landfills for years at a time Tip #3: Wear eco-friendly cycling gear: Look for workout gear made of organic cotton or Tencel. Tencel is made from sustainably grown eucalyptus trees in China and processed in a closed-loop system that recovers 98 percent of materials used. Tip #4: Use your bicycle to charge your phone: Generate clean electricity while you ride by using a device like the Siva that charges a battery with a USB adapter that you can use to charge your phone or other electronics. To learn more about how you can take steps to make a more positive impact on the environment check out the Recycle Right campaign. It is a campaign focused on helping individuals, businesses, and communities improve recycling levels to create a more sustainable future inspired by Terracycle’s and the Human Resources team mission.
