Daryl's Gemini Setup

Daryl's Gemini Setup

Multi-day bikepacking adventures demand a lot from your gear—it can truly be the difference between smooth sailing and a struggle. Last October, I joined the team for an epic 3-day, ~200-mile ride from Priority Bicycles HQ in NYC to our warehouse in Central Pennsylvania, timed perfectly to catch peak fall foliage. The route was a dream for any cyclist, combining serene backroads, challenging elevation, and breathtaking autumn colors that made the effort feel worthwhile. From the gear I couldn’t live without to the lessons I learned, here’s how my setup performed with the Priority Gemini leading the charge.

Gear Gold: Can’t Live Without It

The Rapha Men’s Pro Team Insulated Gilet (Wind Vest with Double Zipper) was an absolute game-changer. This vest let me fine-tune my layers throughout the day—zipping up for warmth during crisp morning rides and cracking it open when the sun hit. It kept my temperature perfectly regulated, making it the MVP of my gear list.

Gear Regret: What Didn’t Get Used

The Sea to Summit Reactor Sleeping Bag Liner turned out to be overkill, even during the colder night we spent in Jim Thorpe. It didn’t add the warmth I was hoping for and felt unnecessary. Next time, I might skip it entirely and rely on body heaters for those colder moments.

Gear FOMO: The One That Got Away

I definitely missed having a Click Stand on this trip. Watching everyone else easily prop up their bikes while I struggled to find decent parking spots was humbling.

And then there were the Endure GORE-TEX Pants (Men’s). Coming down the mountain in Jim Thorpe, I was freezing while Will looked cozy and protected from the wind. The FOMO was real—next time, those pants are coming with me.
