TIPS FOR BIKING AS A FAMILY

TIPS FOR BIKING AS A FAMILY

Start with a short, easy trip:
Your first ride as a family should be relaxing, short and sweet. It is good to have an idea of what your kids are capable of on the bike before setting off on a lengthy ride. Look for a path that is likely a flat, paved path, and away from traffic. In time you can increase distance, incline, and explore more challenging paths.

Helmet fit:
Helmets are of the utmost importance when riding with children. They should fit snugly and not rock side to side or back and forth. Click here for a video instructing how to fit a children’s helmet

What to Pack:
In addition to helmets, make sure to bring sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks. Hydration is key for a successful bike ride! It’s also a good idea to pack a small first aid kit in case of any accidents.

Stop for a treat:
Bring a special treat with you on the ride, or plan to stop along the way for ice cream or a fun snack. Enjoy the time with your family and a day spent being active!
